Scafell Pike

I know its been a long time since my last post… But I’m hoping to start posting more regularly and here goes..

So a friend and I went on a walk up Scafell Pike in the lakes and the weather was beaut. Clouds, sun, wind. It was a good laugh and I got some good pictures. Autumn is a fantastic time of year for photographing. You see pictures of golden trees all the time, but its the start of the time of year when you get the lovely crisp clean air. It makes the light look prettier and makes all your pictures look better, it’s particularly good for landscapes. Theres less time to wait between golden hours and you don’t have to get up unbelievably early for pictures of the sunrise. Just great.

Also before I forget I’ll have a little chat about the Fuji Film X-Pro 1. I know it’s an old camera and there’s no need for me to go back over old reviews. Basically this camera is fantastic and the camera quality is amazing. I do wish it maybe felt abit safer in the rain but.. Oh and one thing I really miss is the interval timer. I have gotten into timelapses in a  big way and I do miss the feature.

Anyways enough waffle. Here they are.

People of Paris

Just got back yesterday from a wonderful long weekend away to Paris with my girlfriend. The weather was fantastic, it got to 20 degrees some days. It gave me a good opportunity to do a bit of street photography. This first batch is from the first night and focuses on the people and the fashion of the people in and around Montmartre. A big focus of mine in this project was nailing my compositions, which I think I am starting to achieve. I will be uploading more from the theme of urban style later this week and also some of the film pictures I took in the near future when I develop them.

Here’s the pics:

Snowboarder

Artec On a recent ski trip to the Italian resort of Selva Gardena, I decided I finally wanted to pop my freestyle togging cherry. It took a long time to find the right location for the shot because the place is so huge! After about half a day of searching I managed to find the perfect snow park, with large jumps, but more importantly pretty skillful skiers and boarders. I found the jump I wanted (it was a 5 foot kicker) and got in place next to it. This boarder did a number of fantastic passes, but on his last jump he decided to take his foot out of the binding. The sun was perfect, the snow was like a giant reflector so all the details in the boarder were clear and the final aspect of the shot which really makes it for me is the snow, it adds a sense of dynamic to the shot and really gives it that special feel.

For any of you that may be interested this is the sequence of shots leading up to that one:
